The primary roads in the area are Golden Beach Road connecting to the main state route 5/235 which runs the length of Saint Mary's County North to South. The nearest airport is Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C., which is about 90 minutes away.

Shopping: There are a few small shops and stores in Golden Beach, but for more extensive shopping options, you'll want to head to nearby areas like Charlotte Hall, which has a Food Lion Grocery Store and an Ace Hardware Store, several fast food chain options, and a Farmers Market with extensive booths featuring local vendors, in addition to the fresh fruit and vegetables normally found at such open air markets. In nearby California and Leonardtown, you’ll find larger shopping centers, including Walmart and Target.

Attractions: Golden Beach is a great place to enjoy the outdoors. The community has its own beach and park, which are popular spots for swimming, fishing, and boating. The nearby Greenwell State Park is a beautiful place to hike, bike, or picnic. For history buffs, St. Mary's City is just a short drive away and offers a glimpse into Maryland's colonial past. The popular Three Notch Trail can be accessed in Charlotte Hall, which is less than 10 minutes from the Golden Beach community. There are numerous recreational events held throughout Saint Mary’s County for people of all ages.

Golden Beach is about a 40 minute commute to Naval Air Station Patuxent River, located in Lexington Park and about a 60 minute drive to Washington DC.
